Frequently Asked Questions - SAP NetWeaver BI & Unfication (Drag & Relate)

SAP Developer Network

This Document Provides Answers to Frequently Asked Questions About:

What is the difference between Drag & Relate with the SAP NetWeaver BI Unifier and the SAP NetWeaver BI RRI (Report-Report Interface)?

Please note that the D&R functionality is only supported for scenarios where you have a 1:1 key mapping between a characteristic and another characteristic. You can only pass on one characteristc as parameter. With D&R it is not possible to pass on multiple parameters or even contexts. For scenarios where you want to make the complete context of a SAP NetWeaver BI query available for an R/3 transaction you have to use the SAP NetWeaver BI RRI (Report-Report Interface) instead (See note: 637415).

Please also note restrictions of D&R in connections with SAP Financials Applications: note 649315.

How can I enable D&R between SAP NetWeaver BI characteristics and Web Pages?

If you start with Drag&Relate, you import the characteristics as a Business Object to the Portal. These Business Object can be used within the Web Target iView. The Web Target iView can be used to perform a Drag&Relate operation from a BEx Web Application to a Web page on the World Wide Web. See Navigation with Web Target iViews for details (please click here to read the online documentation).

In bigger projects (more than 450 InfoObjects with 20 attributes in average per InfoObject) a timeout error may occur. I these cases you have to increase the default timeout. See note 657092.
