Technology - External Document Converter (BC-XDC)
SAP Integration Scenario
"Certification for this integration scenario with the most recent version of SAP solutions is available only upon request, if SAP resources are available. Please contact email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information."
SAP developed the External Document Converter (XDC) interface to connect the external converter to the SAP System. The XDC interface was created due to the requirement to print documents created with the SAP System together with attachments that were not created in the SAP System, such as an invoice created with SAP Smart Forms with the terms of payment as a Microsoft Word document attached. The XDC interface is technically realized using RFC calls between the SAP System and the external converter. The interface is defined in a general manner, meaning that, as well as the DOC, PPT, and XLS formats, additional input formats (such as TIF or PDF) can be supported, as well as additional output formats for the conversion (such as PDF or TIF).
