How to reset user password in SAP HANA and reconfigure for B1H?


In occasion of forgetting the user password of SAP HANA, you may need to reset the user password. This document is to guide you through how to reset the user password for SAP HANA and reconfigure the SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA system with the new password.

How to Reset the user password for SAP HANA?

As illustrated in section 9.3 Database Authentication of Administrator's Guide for SAP Business One 9.2, version for SAP HANA

To install, upgrade, and use SAP Business One, it is strongly recommended to use a substitute user account with required privilege instead of SYSTEM user.

SYSTEM user:

If it is SYSTEM user used in the installation of SAP BusinessOne, please follow the step below about  how to reset the password for SYSTEM user.

Other user than SYSTEM User:

Logon the HANA system with SYSTEM user or a User with appropriate User Administration privilege in HANA studio, you can reset the user password in Security folder, then select the target user under Users to reset its password.

Or you can run the SQL command with SQL Console below:

ALTER USER <targe user> PASSWORD <new_password>;

How to reconfigure SAP Business One after resetting the user password in SAP HANA?

After resetting the user password in SAP HANA, SAP Business One should be reconfigured to update its database user password. Otherwise, it would cause system outage of SAP Business one.
