Environment:

You are working in SAP Hybris Cloud for Customer, where you have question related to Installed Base ,Registered Product and Field Service.

Goal :The goal of this document is to answer the following questions:-

Resolution :-

1. What is Installed Base and Installation Point ?


Answer :Installed Base Management enables you to maintain a hierarchical representation of items installed at customer sites.The Items are nothing ,but Installation Points where various types of Installation Points are :Registered Product, Products,Text and Functional Location.

2. In general ,what Registered Products is all about ?


Answer:Registered Product is unique Identifiable with/without Serial ID (where Installation Point ID is unique identifier for Registered Products),which includes Product Information ,Warranty Information(may/may not) and the Customer Information.

3. What is the difference between the Removed option and the Delete option in the Items facet of Installed Base.?

Answer:If Installed Base-Item is Removed from Item facet of Installed base,it is just removed from that Installed Base i.e link with that Installed Base is been removed .But if an Item is Deleted,it also gets deleted from system completely.Note :"An Item can be removed ,ONLY if the status of it is Obsolete".

4. When can "lower level item"  be added to Installed Base.?

Answer :The Lower Level Item can be added to Installed Base-Item ,only if the Item Status(to which you be adding) AND the Installed Base-Header status status is either 'In Preparation'/'Active'.

5. When can an Item be moved from one Installed Base to another Installed Base?

Answer: An Item with status as Active/In Preparation can be moved either directly under root of another Installed Base OR under any other Item within the target installed base.

6. Why does "Add Functional Location" not shown as an item within an Items facet of an Installed Base ?

Answer : The Functional Location is included as separate entity which came up with ERP Integration and can be separately created within Installation Point view but can not be added as an Installed Base Item.

7. When can you edit the "Status Profile" of a Registered Product.?

Answer :Once the Status Profile is entered and Registered Product is saved ,the Status Profile can not be edited anymore.However you can change the User Status for it.

8. Why are the columns Mandatory, Unique and Forbid missing in the Fine-Tuning activity ?

Answer: For Installed Base and Registered Products we don’t allow users to select whether a particular role is mandatory or optional.Also as per requirements our roles are all unique i.e we cannot have two involved parties with the same role (for one installed base/registered product) .
