SAP® Next-Gen Lab at NCU to accelerate the impact of the SAP academic innovation network in the APJ region

Taipei, 22 June 2016 —SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced that to accelerate the impact of the SAP University Alliances innovation network in Asia Pacific Japan (APJ), SAP University Alliances and National Central University (NCU) are partnering on the launch of the first SAP Next-Gen Lab in Taiwan. The announcement was made at the SAP Academic Conference APJ 2016, being held at NCU from 21 to 25 June 2016.

“The SAP University Alliances innovation network in APJ offers new opportunities for customers to work with academia to create a vision for a truly digital enterprise and take their innovation strategies to the next level,” said Dr. Bernd Welz, executive vice president and head of Scale, Enablement and Transformation, SAP SE.

“The SAP Next-Gen Lab at NCU will enable SAP customers in Taiwan and the APJ region to seed innovation into their organizations,” said Ann Rosenberg, vice president and head of global SAP University Alliances and SAP Next-Gen Consulting. “The lab will foster connections among students and faculty from NCU and other universities, startups, SAP innovation experts, and SAP partners, supporting SAP customers in accelerating their digital transformation journeys.”

NCU is home to the SAP Academic Competence Center Taiwan, and has hosted SAP solutions for SAP University Alliances members in Taiwan since 1999. Students who gain hands on experience with SAP during their university course work are better prepared to become the next generation leaders for the digital enterprise. More than 20 NCU students have been hired by SAP as interns in Taiwan to work on customer projects under the SAP Next-Gen Consulting initiative in which companies work with bright young minds who develop disruptive design concepts and prototype apps leveraging SAP solutions to solve real world customer challenges.

“We are pleased to deepen our partnership with SAP by establishing a SAP Next-Gen Lab at the NCU ERP Center,” said Dr. Jing-Yang Jou, President of NCU. “It testifies to both our long relationship and SAP competence, and we look forward to expanding learning opportunities for students and connections to customers who can derive greater value from the digital economy.”

The SAP Academic Conference APJ 2016 will also showcase the launch in the APJ region of the SAP Education Network for Digital Transformation, an initiative to engage and prepare executives and professionals to lead their organizations to become digital enterprises in collaboration with academia and partners.

More than 150 professors from across the APJ region will gather at NCU to learn opportunities to participate in the SAP academic innovation network, including hearing examples of how SAP customers are transforming with SAP technologies, and the SAP skills in demand among companies hiring graduates. Faculty will attend hands-on workshops on SAP HANA, SAP S/4HANA, SAP BusinessObjects Cloud, SAP HANA Cloud Platform with IoT, SAP Business ByDesign, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP HANA Cloud Platform Mobile Services.

SAP University Alliances opens up the world of SAP to more than 2,700 educational institutions in 90 countries worldwide, and aims to develop the critical skills for the digital enterprise among academics, university students, and young thinkers, and builds the bridge to executives and professionals.
