Reversal Process For Migration Objects for Accounting Transaction Data
This document explains about the options to Reverse the Migrated Objects for Accounting Transaction Data
G/L Account Balances Migration:- From the activity Migrate Accounting Transaction Data you have uploaded G/L Account balances and now you realize that some of the balances are wrongly migrated and now you want to reverse them.
For Single Document Reversal -> Go to General Ledger work center -> Journal Entries view -> Click on Journal Entry ID -> Click on Source Document ID -> you will find the button 'Reverse'.
If there are many postings which you want to reverse then Mass Reversal of General Ledger work center is not available, But you can consider this work-around of Re-Migrating the same G/L Account Balances file with reversal signs i.e., initially you posted debit of 100 for a G/L and with new re-migration you will be posting a credit of 100 and the end effect is that the G/L will have no balance with this effect and you can do a migration again with correct values.
Fixed Assets:- Usually, to reverse any document we click on its source document but if you do the same by going into the Migrated Fixed Assets XYZ - Values - Journal - click on the Source Document ID - Edit - Reverse, if you do this way then you get the error as, Error on changing asset 52-0 after depreciation calculation
Correct way to reverse migrated fixed asset is Go to the Migrated fixed asset XYZ - Migration tab - Under Posted Values tab - Click on the Button Reverse Migration.
Note 1: If you have done some additional postings to this fixed asset, Please reverse them then perform the reverse migration.
Note 2: If the Migration tab missing then, Create change project, go to the activity Migration of Accounting Transaction Data and select Add To Project.Merge the change project, Now, this activity's status is Open. Therefore the Migration tab will be available in the Fixed Assets.
Balances of Bank Accounts:- When you migrate the bank balances then a Bank Statement 0 gets created in the system and later if you have already posted follow up bank statements, then you will not be able to reverse the migrated bank statement due to the error ( Reverse not possible. There is at least one bank statement with a later date that has been already posted or uploaded and ready to be posted manually.)
Reverse the follow up bank statements till only bank statement 0 is available in the system for this bank account then only reversal of migrated bank statement is possible.
Open Items Receivables & Open Items Payable:- Go to General Ledger work center -> Journal Entries view -> Advance Filter and Select Journal Entry Type as Data Migration and (Related) Source Document Type as Supplier Invoice/Customer Invoice -> Go -> Click on Journal Entry ID -> You Can also -> View Business Transaction for Accounting -> View All -> you will find the button 'Reverse'.
No Mass Reversal
Open Outgoing Checks:- Go to General Ledger work center -> Journal Entries view -> Advance Filter and Select Journal Entry Type as Data Migration and (Related) Source Document Type as 82 - Manual Payment -> Go -> Click on Journal Entry ID -> You Can also -> View Business Transaction for Accounting -> View All -> you will find the button 'Reverse'.
Note: We cannot set it to 'Ready for transfer' and cancel and migrated payment will be in-transfer and we cannot change this status but can only be canceled upon reversing the journal entry.
Inventory:- If you migrate the Quantity incorrectly and is already reflecting as On-Hand Stock, now you want to adjust the quantity again, you cannot directly 'reverse' the Goods and Activity Confirmation resulting from the migration. Instead, you can re-migrate the inventory Qty and adjust the Qty in the template accordingly.
Lets say, instead 2 Qty you have migrated with 12 Qty, Now in the Re-migration enter the Qty as -10 Qty, resulting which the Overall On-Hand Stock will show as 2 Qty after this migration.
Open Goods Receipts:- Go to General Ledger work center -> Journal Entries view -> Advance Filter and Select Journal Entry Type as Data Migration and (Related) Source Document Type as Goods and Service Receipt -> Go -> Click on Journal Entry ID -> You Can also -> View Business Transaction for Accounting -> View All -> you will find the button 'Reverse'.
The above mentioned ways are the available options with regards to the cancellation of the mentioned Migration Objects.
Other Options actual should be considered first in hand before migration:
Request Restore from Restore Point
Before you migrate your production data, you have the option to request a restore point. This allows you to restore your data to this point in case the data migration fails or causes problems
Please refer to the help document 'Restore Point' or find this KBA Article 2315315 - How to request a restore from restore point in your solution search.
