Display Setting for Exchange Rate Posting

Many businesses deal with import and export and therefore maintaining exchange rates correctly is highly important.

In SAP Business One you can decide on the calculation method of the exchange rate within one click.

From SAP Business One Main Menu choose: Administration > System Initialization > General Settings > Display tab. Under “Exchange Rate Posting” select the option that fits your business best:

  • "Direct" displays the exchange rate according to the local currency.
  • "Indirect" displays the exchange rate according to the foreign currency.

Example

The local currency is the Euro and the foreign currency is the British Pound. Today's rates are EUR 1 = GBP 0.8 .

In case of "Direct" method,  you would enter 1.25  as today's rate for the British Pound.

In case of " Indirect " method, you would enter 0.8 as today's rate for the British Pound.

NOTE: Once a transaction was posted to the company database, this setting is irreversible. Make sure it is set in the right method for your business before you start working.
