How to add Registered Product to an Installed Base or to another Registered Product
In this document I'll explain how a Registered Product can be added to an Installed Base or to another Registered Product.
Go to Work Center Installed Base and you'll see that there is a view for Installed Base and another view for Registered Product.
From the Installed Base view you can create a new Installed Base or open an existing Installed Base .
In the latter case the Installed Base Thing Inspector UI opens and in ITEMS facet you'll see the option to add items and sub-items .
Here you can create a new Registered Product and add it as an item or add an existing Registered Product as an item .
If you choose to create a new Registered Product then the following screen will appear -
The Customer is defaulted to the customer of the Installed Base and hence this field is not visible in the create UI .
Clicking on save will create and add this Registered Product as an item to this Installed Base .
It's also possible to add sub-items by choosing the option Lower Level - Registered Product .
If you want to add an Existing Registered Product then select the corresponding option
And then the following screen will appear where you can search for an existing registered product and add it .
The value help , by default , shows the list of Registered Products that belong to the customer of this Installed Base . You can open the advanced find form of the value help and also change the customer if you want e.g., if you want to add Registered Products of a customer who is related to the customer of the Installed Base.
An important rule to remember is that only Registered Products that have status Active and haven't already been assigned to an Installed Base can be added to an Installed Base or to another Registered Product.
Once a Registered Product is selected from the value help you'll see the following screen where the ID and serial ID of the Registered Product is shown along with the product ID of the reference product .
Clicking on save will add this as an item to the Installed Base .
Note : If the Registered Product had items or sub-items even those will be added to the Installed Base below the Registered Product .
Within this Installed Base screen it's possible to build up a hierarchy . For instance , choose the Registered Product item and add a Lower Level-Registered Product to it or add an existing Registered Product as a Lower Level-Existing Registered Product .
It's also possible to open the Registered Product UI , go to the facet called ITEMS and add Registered Product as shown below . The process is the same as adding to an Installed Base and the same rules apply.
