How is warranty start/end date of a Registered Product determined

Let us suppose that the warranty you see below will be used in a Registered Product . It has duration of 2 years .

When creating a new Registered Product (or when editing it) we maintain the Reference Date .This date is usually the purchase or delivery date and is used to determine the start of an entitlement .

Once Warranty has been entered the start and end date are calculated as follows -

Warranty Start date =Reference Date

Warranty End Date = Reference Date + Duration of Warranty

These dates are determined automatically and cannot be entered manually by the user from the User Interface or via an API.

Once a Registered Product has been created it can be edited and warranty can be changed but even then the validity period will be determined by the system and cannot be entered manually by user .
