Desktop governance allows BI platform administrators to enforce security and set default values for SAP Lumira.

The following items can be configured and administered:

LogOn:

  • Forced Log on to BI Platform

Preference:

  • Preset URL to Lumira Cloud, Lumira Server and BI Platform
  • Control whether the user can edit them
  • Control whether SAP Lumira Desktop should auto update (and where it should install from)

Functionality:

  • Control access to data source
  • Control publishing/sharing the Lumira documents

Please note, Desktop governance is supported form BI Platform 4.1 SP05 Patch 3 onwards

Desktop governance is enabled by creating a configuration file on each user’s machine, then defining each user's settings in the BI platform Central Management Console (CMC). SAP Lumira enforces desktop governance by contacting the BI platform at startup and querying for the user's rights and settings

  • Control whether the user can edit them
    • Launch CMC -> Applications -> SAP Lumira -> Properties
    • Check/Uncheck the “Allow editing of URL”

    • Launch CMC -> Applications -> SAP Lumira -> Properties
    • Enable/Disable SAP Lumira Desktop auto update functionality
    • If auto update enabled, provide the update location

Functionality:

  • Select the user or group you want to set rights for. If the user or group is not listed, use <Add Principals> to add it.
  • Select Assign security -> Select Advanced  -> Select Add/Remove rights -> Define the rights that the user has for SAP Lumira for Data Source and Share
