The Open Authorization Framework, commonly known under the abbreviation “OAuth”, started in 2007 as an informal initiative driven by a small group of implementers to standardize an open authorization protocol for a long-standing security issue: Authorizing a client application to access protected server resources on behalf of a user without seeing or knowing the user's secret credentials. The purpose of this tutorial is to explain how OAuth can be used to secure access to an application deployed on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.
