** Team WDA ** - Feature List of Select Options

The Select Options offer re-useable components to assign values with different conditions to attributes. These components are used in common UIs such as the input help, the Personal Object Work List (POWL), the Search UIBB in FPM and other Web Dynpro applications.

The Select Options exist in two flavors (1.0 and 2.0).

Select Options 1.0

Before SAP_BASIS 7.31, only the Select Options 1.0 were available. They look as follows:

This component is used in general in POWL and within the input help with UI Guideline 1.1.

Select Options 2.0

The Select Options 2.0 component is available as of SAP_BASIS 7.31. The following screenshot gives you an example of the visualization:

The Select Options 2.0 component is used in general within the input help with UI Guideline 2.0 and the FPM Search UIBB.

Description of Features

Paste Multiple Values

Several values for one attribute can be assigned at once using the standard clipboard functionality (CTRL-C, CTRL-V). This also works for intervals.

For Select Options 1.0, the values can be pasted on the main screen or on the extended options popup.

If this functionality is needed in lower releases, the customer can enhance the select options as described in this blog:

How to Implement Multi Value Paste for Select Options 1.0

Search Button as Default Button

The search button becomes the default button. Therefore, a saved search can be triggered directly by choosing a search and pressing ENTER.

Suggest Filter Method

Value suggest supports both search methods (Prefix and Contains).

Personalization

A personalization popup can be called for defining a default search and other options. This functionality is generally available in the Search UIBB of FPM.

Multiple Values from Value Help

If the DDIC value help is called on the select options, several values can be selected at once and are passed to the select options.

Administrator Searches

The administrator can predefine saved searches for all users. This functionality is generally available in the Search UIBB of FPM.

Quick Help Moved to Popup

The quick help for the select options was previously displayed when choosing Show Quick Help in the context menu. To improve usability, the quick help was moved to a popup, which users can call on the panel via the help icon. If no panel is rendered, the help is shown as before.

This change is also available via SAP Note 1938950.

Location of Saved Searches

You can now define that the Saved Searches DropDownListBox is displayed inside the Search Criteria panel rather than above it. To allow this, parameter LOCATION_SAVED_SEARCHES was added to the structure WDR_SO_S_GENERAL_VISIBILITY.
