Technical Support Lifecycle

The "Technical Support Lifecycle" is the term during which a Business Objects product version is eligible for patch support and technical support interactive assistance.

The Technical Support Lifecycle policy has been defined to provide the highest quality patch support and interactive assistance on current products. Business Objects strives to put resources behind the most recent product releases in order to continually improve and enhance the power of our software.

Technical Support Lifecycle Policy

The Technical Support Lifecycle defines the time frames during which our software products are eligible for patch support and technical support interactive assistance. The policy defined below will take effect beginning with BusinessObjects 6.5 SP2, XI Release 2 and all future releases. All versions prior to these releases will continue to keep their same historical lifecycle end dates previously published.

Major Release

  • (X.Y.Z)
  • Patch support provided for a minimum of 36 months
  • + Technical support interactive assistance provided for an additional 6 months

Minor Release

  • (X.Y.Z)
  • Patch support provided for 12 months within the Major version timeframe
  • + Technical support interactive assistance provided within the Major version timeframe

Service Pack

  • (X.Y.SPZ)
  • Patch support provided for the most current Service Pack and the previous released Service Pack
  • + Technical support interactive assistance provided within the Major version timeframe

Policy Definitions

End of Patch

  • Last day SAP Development Group will accept new cases that involve patch development to resolve.
  • Development of new Fixes, Support Packs and Maintenance releases will not be initiated after this date.
  • Complimentary interactive assistance is not available after this date (unless otherwise stated).

End of Maintenance (Product Version Specific)

  • Last day SAP Active Global Support will provide interactive assistance for a product version of a given product
  • An upgrade or migration path is still available for product versions that have reached the End of Maintenance.

End of Life – Support (Product)

  • SAP no longer provides support for the product.
  • Customers should explore the migration options with their SAP Sales Account Executives.
  • Beyond this date, SAP will no longer renew the support agreement for the product which is End of Life - Support.
  • No upgrade or migration path is available for product versions that have reached the End of Life - support.

Release Date

  • Date the English (EN) version of the product was officially released.
  • Alternate language builds may have been released on a different date.
