SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) – Integration Scenario – ABAP Add-On Deployment Certification
Third-party ABAP Add-ons that conform to SAP standards and conventions for ABAP packaging and deployment are eligible for certification within the SAP integration certification program. In general, all custom ABAP objects, database tables, fields, and data elements must exist within a registered namespace. Software vendors must not modify SAP objects (screens, menus, programs, function modules, etc.) and must not update SAP tables directly. For further details regarding the requirements, please contact us.
This Integration Scenario is also available with SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA.
For supporting Third-Party ABAP Add-on vendors to migrate their solution to SAP HANA, SAP provides a SAP HANA Readiness Assessment for ABAP Add-ons. Part of this service is an introduction to SAP Business Suite powered by SAP, static code checks for critical codelines and a performance test with vendor test data. This will help vendors to make their solution ready for SAP HANA.
To find out more about this service please visit SAP HANA Readiness Assessment for ABAP Add-on.
Please follow these steps in order to complete ABAP Add-on Deployment Certification:
- Acquire an SAP application developer user license, either Application Developer User or NetWeaver Developer User*
Register your unique namespace on SAP Service Marketplace
Develop the ABAP add-on in your registered namespace
Subscribe to the SAP ABAP Service Package granting access to the Add-on Assembly Kit as well as one ABAP certification per year for free
Sign an ABAP certification agreement for the Add-on you wish to certify
*A valid SAP Developer User License (Application or NetWeaver) for ABAP development and distribution is required for ABAP Add-on Deployment Certification.
To develop securely in ABAP, ISVs need to apply for custom namespaces from SAP via SAP Service Marketplace. These namespaces are SAP-exclusive identifiers that enable SAP, SAP customers, and ISVs and partners to develop components and products without the risk of naming collisions. Namespace registration can be performed online after the purchase of the user license(s).
SAP requires that you use the SAP Add-on Assembly Kit (AAK) to package an ABAP Add-on, and strongly recommends that you use the toolkit throughout the development cycle. Syntax and consistency checks for code are done using the AAK. Additional checks are done by SAP consultants during the certification procedure. The AAK tool is available as part of the ABAP Service Package for third-party ABAP solutions.
Software vendors that have licensed the SAP NetWeaver Application Server, add-on for code vulnerability analysis (CVA) can get a written confirmation of a successful security code scan. For this, ICC has introduced the service Security Code Scanning, which is included for free in the ABAP Service Package.
The confirmation is included directly on the certificate.
For further details regarding CVA and this new service, please check SCN page of Security Code Scanning Service
The SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) highly recommends that ISVs and partners, who are interested in certifying an integration of their product with SAP solutions, begin with our page Getting Started with Integration and Certification that explains the SAP ICC services and describes the process how to obtain them. This page helps you select the correct integration scenario and contains technical information, streaming media presentations, step-by-step guides, and much more.
To apply for ICC Services right away - please fill in the SAP ICC online application form.
Important: Please be very detailed in your description of your ABAP Add-on, so that SAP ICC can verify and give clearance, if an ABAP Add-on Deployment Certification is the appropriate technical route to take.
Test System Recommendation from ICC
A valid SAP Developer User License (Application or NetWeaver) for ABAP development and distribution is required for ABAP Add-on implementation and certification. It is also recommended to have at least a 2-system-landscape for each Add-on release and each supported SAP release. One Development system (for developing software and documentation, customizing) and one Consolidation system (for translation and delivery).
|Interval||ABAP Service Package Subscription||ABAP Add-on Assembly Kit||ABAP add-on Deployment Certification|

Benefits of Certification
Customers using SAP-certified solutions in their SAP environment, as well as the ISVs and partners offering these, experience great benefits such as shorter implementation times, technical enablement, and marketing assets that certification provides. Please visit the 'Certification Benefits overview page' for more information.
