Date Range Parameter Fields in Crystal Reports 5.x & 6.x

"Date range parameter fields allow the user to report on a specified date range by prompting for a starting and ending date. Using date range parameter fields is more versatile than specifying the date range in the record selection editor because it allows the user to change the range at runtime. Other features that improve the versatility of date range parameter fields are such things as: · setting the current date as the default date · setting the parameter as a 'string' type, which allows the user to enter the date in a more flexible format · passing the date range to a subreport, so that the subreport reports off of the same date range as the main report · prompting the user for both date and time parameter fields"
