Developing a Universal Worklist Connector for YAWL (Yet Another Workflow Language)

Since the release of the UWL API at SAP TechEd 2006 the Universal Worklist (UWL) allows the integration of non-SAP systems using the Java API. This article demonstrates how easy it is to connect a third-party system using the API. To demonstrate the straight forward implementation approach the article shows how to develop a UWL connector for an open source workflow engine (YAWL). YAWL is the reference implementation of a workflow engine based on workflow patterns and Petri net, and is being used a lot in research.
