Connecting Users To Business Processes
Role-based application design focuses on the user and the organizational role. But processes are equally important and usually modeled in a disconnected way from use-centric requirements. I will introduce a three-layer model of running the business and focus on soft processes that are usually informal and hidden. Informal processes often reflect best practices that have a potential to be supported by systems. Surfacing such soft processes creates business value to the customer, but is usually a challenge with respect to application design and supporting technology. With the examples of work center based xApp design and guided procedures, I will illustrate how to drive process innovation and improve user productivity.
