Understanding JMS and Message-Driven Beans

Session from SAP TechEd '04 − Java Message Service, or JMS, provides Java programs with standardized vendor- independent access to messaging infrastructures. As a proven technique, asynchronous message-based communication between applications has been used successfully for decades – and it will remain an important pillar for distributed architectures. For this reason, the new Message-Driven Beans have recently complemented the Enterprise JavaBeans standard with asynchronous processing capabilities, thus allowing new or simplified enterprise application architectures. Both Java Message Service and Message- Driven Beans are an integral part of SAP Web Application Server. This presentation introduces you to the concepts involved and shows you how to benefit from the techniques used when dealing with those capabilities.
