Online & Offline backup

Hi Experts,

Please let me know how to do Online and Offline backups?

I have EP7.0 (NW2004s) (SP16), Oracle 10G,IBM AIX 5L.

(Only Java Stack)

Please provide me some links/docs.

If you have any step by Step explanation please share with me.

HI Karthick,

online Backup:

1. First change the initSID.SAP file which is under ORACLE_HOME/dbs

2. In the file, change backup_type = online,backup_dev_type = disk( if you are taking into disk),backup_root_dir = <path>

3. After changing these parameters, create folder in the respective place(if you are taking in disk) and check the size.

4. start Brtools using oraSID user and then choose 4 option for backup and reovery and then choose 1 for database backup.

5. then just continue till backup starts, it will also show where it is storing the data and how much size, check everything and choose continue.

Offline Backup :

It is also same as Online backup but backup_type = offline in initSIS.SAP.

And also stop sap only no need of oracle, when starting if brtools throws any error like users are logged on to the database means just restart the database. even if you stop the database also no problem, but brbackup will start again while backup. so it is best to make it up.
