SCM-Optimizer question

Hi All

Can anyone please point me document or let me know what is the need of SAP SCM 5.1 u2013 SCM Optimizer. I am trying to understand what SCM component uses SCM-Optimizer.

You can find the SAR archive of the optimizer in the SAP Software Distribution Center (http://service.sap.com/patches) under the menu path "Entry by Application Group -> SAP application components

-> SAP SCM -> SAP SCM 2007 -> Entry by Component -> SCM Optimizer -> SAP SCM Optimizer 5.1 -> <platform>"

-> SAP TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT -> SAP TM 6.0 -> Entry by Component -> SAP Optimizer -> SAP SCM Optimizer 5.1 -> <platform>"
