available.log reports "Unavailable"

We recently upgraded from BW3.5 to BI7.0. The available.log file reports the ABAP system as "Unavailable" even though it is truly available. The timestamp changes every minute, as expected. Interestingly, our PROD CI is the only system that reports "Available"...the PROD App Servers, DEV, and QA systems all report "Unavailable".

Does anyone know what process is writing to this "available.log"?

Dear Greg,

Check if the system is dual stack and check if all the services are up and running. Availability log reports as down if any one  service is down.

I had same situation, In my case java was down.  Hope this might  help you or some-others.

I too am having this problem, ever since we upgrade to Netweaver 7.0 EHP1 (the log is our production system so it's not down) I can't help but to think that something has changed with sapstartsrv in later versions of the kernel, maybe it's a profile parameter or something that is missing... has anyone opened a message with SAP on the matter?

Thanks,

Rob

Available.log is written by the SAP service sapstartsrv.exe

The service checks the status of the actual process list. If all processes are u201Cgreenu201D the instance is considered to be available.

You do need to make sure that all the processes that you would see in the SAP MMC are running correctly for correct values to show in available.log.

hi Parixit

have a look if there are old sapstartsrv processes running on the system beside the one for the active instance.

Probably this could solve the issue

Cheers

Hi,

Mostly Unavailable means your system might be restarted during that time.

If Your SAP instance was stopped then it will show Unavailable & after this if system is rebooted then again it will display log as Unavailable.

In my case I have analyse this. Please let us know if you find some other reason too.

Hi

Run tcode AL11, open DIR_HOME and take a look at the file

"available.log"

In the log the lines are as available it means the system is up

If it is unavailable it means the system is down.
