BI 7.0 SSL certificates

Dear all,

I have a Double-Stack BI 7.0 system (ABAP and Java combined on one server with identical system ID and instance number) . I want to use SSL to access it. My question is do I need to install two different certificates (one for the ABAP and one for the JAVA system) or I can get away with buying only one?

Many thanks

Andreas

Hi,

It depends what you need !

If the external HTTPS access will only be from the java stack, then you need only to buy one single certificate.

Hello Olivier,

Thanks. My users will be using the BI portal as the frontend to access their reports, so I am clear that I will definetely need a Java certificate. However, Bex Web which can be invoked by the BI portal, issues http(s) requests to the ABAP system as it is invoking services defined in sicf. I suppose that means that I will need two different certificates for my BI system, one for the Java part and one for the ABAP part. Is this correct?

many thanks

Hi,

No, I think that the ABAP part may use a self signed certificate.

The ABAP and JAVA stacks must be trusted with each other.

The web browsers will only connect to BI java.

Olivier
