SLCM GUI user and Web user

Hi all,

SLCM can be used with normal SAP GUI screen and so as Web interface, as for the user - is it the same user id? Can we create only Web user for student? And for internal used means University staff?

And what about authorization. If it's the same user id, the authorization is controlled by transaction SU01 only or have to set it on web as well? If it's different user id, then how to set?

I tried to check in the authorization cookbook downloaded from Wiki but there is no answer to the above question. It only described role in SLCM via SU01

From my understanding based on my knowledge with CRM, there are two options

1. B2B on ERP - the GUI user and Web user are the same, it's mirror to each other, using SU01 to maintain as such User for customer to logon to Web must be created in CRM system as well.

2. CRM Web channel - the Web user (for customer) links to Business partner in CRM - no need to create user for customer in CRM system, the user id log on to CRM system is for company or internal organization users.

Can you help clarify? And if any document has information on this, pls send.

Regards,

Chanchana

For students, it is generally expected that there would be a Portal user and also a user ID in the backend system. In the IMG, you define the default 'template' for a student user, amking sure to limit the authorizations, of course.

The web user interfaces for the student (Self-service) are delivered as Web Dynpro applications starting in EhP3. With EhP4, we will also deliver a Portal Role for Student Self-Service.
