Folks,
We have a requirement where the planning for the finished material is done in MRP where as the material componnets needs to be planned in SNP ? Is this possible ?
Upon planning the material through MRP, BOM gets exploded and dependent demand gets created in PP. This dependent demand is visible in APO (Product view) and the category is DepDemand.
Upon running SNP hueristic, planned order that got generated for dep. demand is pegged to dependent demand. However is this dep. demand planned order pegged to the MRP planned order that got created for the main finished material demand?
So is the basic combination of MRP & SNP possible for Material and components respectively ?
TIA
Hi Krishna,
If the component is maintained as X0 then MRP run in R/3 wont consider that for planning. So when you are taking these components to APO for planning, once the production is confirmed for the components then the higher level of BOM will identify it as a stock & accordingly confim the availability to the extent of dependent demand or the lot that is specified.

Krishana,
Lets say even if we maintain parent material in the APO product master, while planning run it will not play any role unless SNP PPM is maintained to define the level code relationship between the parent material and component.
Technically Parent Material Level code will be 0 and component will be 1 but in this case since parent material is planned in R3 and component material is planned in APO,so definitely there will be SNP PPM/PDS for component which will be in the highest level 0 by itself as far APO is concerned hence no mandate of having parent level item in APO to drive its requirement planning.
