How to get PI7 to reference an AD (for User Management)?

If you install an AS ABAP + Java, the UME is automatically set up to use the ABAP user management of the same AS installation. This option uses the configuration file dataSourceConfiguration_abap.xml.

That confirms what I see when I go to the UME config on my PI server.

https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/718383 says that if the data source is ABAP (which it is), it can't be changed to anything else (i.e. AD or J2EE).

So do you know how to make the JAVA stack reference the AD?
