Relationship between Shipment type and Delivery type?

Hi,

Do we assign a Delivery type to a Shipment type in the standard SAP configuration.If not then how does the system recognizes that the shipment type will consider only specific Delivery types?

Delivery Type

A classification that distinguishes between different types of delivery.

Use

The delivery type determines how the system processes a delivery. For example, depending on the delivery type, the system determines which screens to present and which data to request from the user.

Shipment type

Specifies what type of transportation processing is to be performed.

Use

The shipment type has various control features for transportation processing. These include:

number range from which the shipment document number is assigned specifications such as the transportation processing type and processing control indicator

control elements such as the output determination procedure, text determination procedure, etc.

default values such as the shipping type, service level, leg

indicator

Procedure

When you create a shipment, you must specify a shipment

type.

Examples

Shipment by road:

In the case of a stop-off shipment, the shipment legs are

determined by the system using specific rules.

An individual shipment could be a preliminary leg for a

shipment by sea

Shipment by sea

Specific output is required for processing.

Shipment by rail:

Specific texts are required so that the rail consignment note

can be filled in completely.

Dependencies

A shipment document is assigned to one particular

shipment document type.

Will be creating the Delivery Note in VL01N and after that Pick, Packing, Loading ect will be done in Shipment.

While creation of shipment system will be asking the Delivery Number for which we have to give the delivery number for the shipment. in this way the system recognizes the delivery and shipment.

Hi Christino

There is no direct assignment between delivery and shipping type.

as shipment can be created of different delivery type also within the company code of the transportation planning point.

We only activate the delivery type for the transportation
