SAPCTL problem

Hello all,

i'm installing SAP HA with SAPCTL feature.

I've installed on node Linux RH5.1 x86_64 a Oracle clusterware 10.2.0.4 and ASCS + central instance and I've configured SAPCTL by manual 3.0. The database is on separate machine with separate RAC.

When i start sapctl command replication service is UNKNOWN and enqueue service not start.

Question: Does enqueue and replication will be install on local disk or shared?

What is the correct configuration of enq and ers ?

Have you any suggestion about?

Hi Roberto

Technically you have both possibilities, you can install it on the shared disks or have it local. I installed it on the shared disks, and i recommend that. This way it is not necessary to replicate the config manually over all nodes.

To your problem:

1. Does the ASCS start correctly and only the services remains unknown?

2. Or does the SAP startup fail completely?

To resolve your problem, go step by step:

- get the SAP running, by starting the instances manually, sort out the start problems

- get the replication running

- switch the ASCS manually by stopping on node1 and starting on node2

- get the integration into CRS running

Let us know where you are stuck and please provide as much information as possible. Finding the correct log in a RAC environnement is a pain, good luck

thank you for your reply, now i've remove all sapctl config and started manually ASCS+CI on node1 and ERS on node2, this is the result:

Hi Roberto

I would test if the ASCS works properly, goto transaction SM12 -> Extras -> Diagnosis. No error should occur.

Then asuming the ASCS works, you need to investigate why the ERS cannot connect. It looks like it wants to connect to 172.25.254.112 port 50016. Check if this is correct. If that address is the virtual ip of the ASCS, you either need to change the enque/serverhost in the ERS instance profile or start the ABAP vip.

Hi all

I have exactly the same issue but on a different configuration

Our configuration is formed by 2 nodes

1st node : ASCS + SCS + Dialogue instance ( DVEBMSG is apprently splited into an ASCS+Dialogue instance)

2nd node : AREP instance (enqueue replication)

Even if the AREP starts correctly I still have the error bellow

Hi Yacine,

Is your Replication server able to talk to Enqueue server? Setting parameter enque/encni/repl_port = 5xx16.

This is the the port on which the two talk.

Questions for other experts on this thread - I have a working Enqueue and Replication. The ensmon indicates the enqueue table is being replicated on Replication Enqueue.

But my doubt or question is how do I change over fail over the enqueue to rep. server

Now it works fine.

The problem is that the Enqueue profile was wrong.

I have adjusted it according to SGeSAP documentation and now it works.
