Hi Everyone,
I have configured SCOT but the ssend mail functionality isn't working.I get the following error in SOST:
The message from the node could not be delivered to recipient as the recipient is unknown.
I have few queries to which I couldn't find an answer:
1)Telnet to smtp server with port 25 is possible from the host of the system.Should the port 25 be open on the host as well?
2)Is there any specific format to specify the default domain(as long as I know it is client specific for eg 000.SID.r3.domain)
3)ICM traces show the following error:
Thr 1098512736] *** WARNING => Connection request from (12/13/0) to host: (mail host), service: 25 failed (NIEHOST_UN
[icxxconn_mt.c 2321]
4)Are there any settings which need to be done on the smtp server/mail server?
The Routing test works fine,but mails are not getting sent.
Regards,
Abhishek
Hi Friends,
We finally found out the cause of the problem was on SMTP server.
Thanks everyone!

Hi Ashutosh,
as mentioned above telnet to mail host with port 25 works fine from the server of my system.
Do you mean that telnet (myhost) 25 should work fine on the mail server as well?That was one thing which I was confused about?
Regards,
Abhishek

Dear Abhishek,
Yes you are right do telnet from SMPT to your server.Just check whether the SMTP relays are up or not.Co-ordinate with your Networks team.Surely your issue will be resolved.
Also check this link:

Hi,
All the above mentioned settings are correct.Checked the sap note and the default domain is also set correctly acc to our landscape.
Still unable to send the mails.Problem appears to be on the mail host end.
Plz comment on the mail server's configuration if anyone is aware of it.

Abhishek

Dear Abhishek,
Then do a telnet from your server to mail server(SMTP) and vice versa.
You will be able to know whether it is from SAP side or network side.Just co-ordinate with your network guys and confirm from them whether the hits are going from your server or not.

Ashutosh

Dear Abhishek,
We face the similar issue.Please check weather the default domain in transaction SCOT>menu>settings is set or not.
Check SAP note 487754. & 455140 Also check that in Tnx SCOT
-->Node SMTP
-->Supported address type
-->button internet set.
--> Address area
'*' must be there.
I am sure your problem will be solved.
PS: Do read those two notes that I send.
Regards,
Ashutosh
