This question has been asked and answered several times, you can check these threads for the replies.
As far as i am aware of there are no XI trial versions for free atleast.

I read those threads and they date back to May 2005. So I asked again. How do people learn this thing.
Hi,
1. you can attend an XI course at SAP educational center - if your're not from a company that has SAP
2. if your company has SAP then you can download it
BTW
it's exactly the same as with SAP's modules like MM, SD etc.
