Java engine is not starting at all

Hi All,

I recently installed Java add-in on ECC ABAP stack. It was running fine. I changed few Java parameters in configtool. After that when i restarted instance, ABAP is running but SDM,DISPATCHER & Server0 are not running. its grayed out and not starting.

I changed below Java parameters for dispatcher nodes using ConfigTool:

Memory

u2022 Initial heap size: 170

u2022 Max heap size: 170

u2022 -Xverbosegc

u2022 -XX:+UseParNewGC

u2022 -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps

ThreadManager Properties

u2022 InitialThreadCount: 50

u2022 MinThreadCount: 50

u2022 MaxThreadCount: 200

u2022 ChangeThreadCountStep: 50

Java parameters for server nodes using ConfigTool:

Memory

u2022 NewSize: 320

u2022 MaxNewSize: 320

u2022 PermSize: 512

u2022 MaxPermSize:512

u2022 -Xverbosegc

u2022 -XX:+UseParNewGC

u2022 -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps

ThreadManager Properties

u2022 InitialThreadCount: 40

u2022 MinThreadCount: 40

u2022 MaxThreadCount: 100

Can anybody please tell me what are standard initial configtool Java parameters for dispatcher & server nodes.

I tried

1. Set all values to default..result> not working

2. reset all values to previous values> not working

Read Note 723909 - Java VM settings for J2EE 6.40/7.0 .

What do you see in dev_server0 ?

Regards.

I already followed up that Note. Parameters are correct according to that.

Hi,

Check the server0.log file its located in usr/sap/sid/instance/j2ee/cluster/server0/log/system

Check that and post it here it will contain all the helpfull info.

Dear All,

I am re-installing SAP now as problem is not resolved.

It was very strange that even after parameter reset to previous value, J2ee engine was not starting.

My suggestion to all who read this forum is "do not play with Java parameters of configtool, if you dont know the effect on system. First read 723909 - Java VM settings for J2EE 6.40/7.0 SAP note before doing any changes".
