Hi Reddy,
if the data is imported to import manager will the same be replicated in data manager and the syndicator.
There are basially 4 components in MDM which help up in achieving the complete data flow from the source systems to MDM and vice-versa.
1) MDM console is used to model and design an MDM repository.
2) MDM IMport Manager is used to perform mapoping between the source file and the MMD repository. Data is present in source fiel under the respective fields.
Hence, we map the source file structure and the MDM repository structure and then import the data into MDM.
This data is then present in the MDM repository and can be viewed by the users in the MDM Data Manager.
We can then perform various actions in MDM data Manager such as enrichment, de-dupliate the data, use Workflows for better funcitoning and governance.
Hence the same data is visible in Data Manager as soon as the data is imported. However, we can then change/modify it according to the requirement.
Then we use the syndicator to export the data back in the form of a file.
Hope it helps.
Thanks and Regards

Hi,
Import manager is a channel to load our data in MDM data manager where we do all our operations and then syndicate it through MDM Syndicator.Yes the data u will import is gng to be stored in data manager and also same data will be in Syndicator.
After ward if u will do some operations like merging, cleansing, validating ,assignments etc...the updated data will be replicated in Syndicator.
Hope this may help u

Hi,
MDM Console, is used to create the table struture in the Repository.
MDM Console -- is used to create/modify the repository schema structure.
MDM Import Manager -- Used to Import the data from an external source to the MDM repository
MDM Data Manager -- is used to create/modify the data present in the repository.
Like this each of the GUI present in SAP MDM are used to perform different functionality.
Please refer to the reference guides, to know all the functionlities in the GUI's.
Thanks,
Priya.
Hi,
MDM Console is a blue print of the data.In Console we only define the data structure i.e in which form we want to store the data.
This is a structure designing whree we define the first of all a repository (if a new one is req.) then table names ,types then fields req (the fields of data we are importing),their properties.Look-up,Qualified,hierarchy etc
MDM components works in this way:
MDM Console(Data structure defined)-->Import manager(Channel to import data in MDM like from R3 through XI/Abap apis etc)--> The place where the data can be seen and operated)----> MDM Syndicator(Tool to send back the data from where data imported /on local machine /3 party etc in the req format like XML,Flat file etc using remote keys and also to multiple systems like SRM,CRM etc tis is again implemented through XI)
Hope this may help u

Hi Reddy,
Below is the basic description how to get R3 data into MDM
There are two types of data available
1. Lookup data
2. Main Table Data
First we need to extract lookup data from R/3 and import it into our repository because when we craete any record in data manager we supply the values from the drop downs i.e. lookup fields hence first lookups should be filled and then actual data is imported.
MDMGX (Generic Extractor) is the transaction available to extract the lookup data from R3 in the form of XML. We need to configure the FTP server so that it accepts the data from R3 and place the XML file in the Ready folder which will then be picked by Import Server and it gets imported in our repository.
For Main table data transaction MDM_CLNT_EXTR is available. For this we need to create PI scenario which takes the data from R3 and gives the file to FTP. Again FTP puts this XML file into Ready folder of the particular port which will be picked by Import Server and records get imported into our repository.

Hi thanks for the answer can you please explain with steps how tto use or any refernce guide which will be helpful to me
MDMGX (Generic Extractor) is the transaction available to extract the lookup data from R3 in the form of XML. do the above one should be done by using XI

Again FTP puts this XML file into Ready folder of the particular port which will be picked by Import Server and records get imported into our repository.
Hi Reddy,
Firstly you will have to extrcat the look-up table data from R3 using MDMGX transaction-
Please follow this link to know about the same:

This link willl give you enough info on the subject
Hope it helps.

Hi Reddy,
Refer the below link for MDMGX
No need to use XI for lookup table extraction.

Hi Reddy,
if the data is imported to import manager will the same be replicated in data manager and the syndicator
The mapping of the source fileds with the MDM repository fields are performed in the MDM Import manager.
But the way they will be displayed in the MDM data manger in the way you have designed the REpository in the MDM console.
The order of the fields as created in MDM console will be reflected in the same ways in the MDM syndicator as well.
Hope It Helped,
Thanks & Regards

Hi Reddy,
Import manager is just the tool to import data into the Repository and with the help of Data Manager we can perform operations on data but at teh last its the repository that holds the data and not the data manager. So once data is imported in the repository same copy will be visible in Data Manager, Syndicator and Import Manager.
