Hi CMM

Item proposals are created, if certain material combinations are often ordered and delivered in certain quantities. When creating item proposals, different materials with proposed quantities can be entered.

Frequently occurring material combinations and common delivery quantities can be stored as item proposals. When creating an order, you can take items from the item proposal. You can also use a search help. An item proposal can consist of materials of different material types.

The order entry can be processed more efficiently using item proposals. Item proposals can be transferred into a sales order document or be selected from a selection list, for example. Data from the current material master is always taken into account. Items proposed from an item proposal can always be changed in the sales order.

An item proposal, containing the materials a customer usually orders, can be assigned to that customer, for example. When using item proposals in the sales document, this item proposal is then proposed for selection.

You can also adopt bills of material (e.g., configurable materials) into an item proposal. However, it is NOT possible to explode, or configure a bill of material in an item proposal. You can only carry this out when you are copying it into a sales order.

If you want to create an item proposal for a bill of material, enter the header material without the component. When the item proposal is transferred to the sales document, the bill of material is then exploded or configured. Make sure that an item category is determined in the sales order that allow bill of material explosion or configuration. This is controlled in Customizing for the item category in the Structure scope field.

Hope this clarifies.

Hi,

Item Proposal:

Frequently used material combinations and common delivery quantities can be stored as item proposals.

Bill of Materials:

Where as Bill of Materials is the combination of all the materials which will be considered as one materials. for example, if we say computer, it will consists of Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard, CUP etc. So, we can create a BOM for a computer which will have all the sub components. And in Sales Order we can explode all those child components using Main component.

such as when you want to:

1. Determine material requirements for a product

2. Look at the overall structure of a product in a design department

3. See an overview of the parts and materials required

4. Calculate the effects of changes to costs

When you explode a BOM "top down", the system finds all the components that are in the BOM. Some individual components may also be assemblies. These subordinate BOMs are included in reporting functions. There is no limit to the number of levels of BOMs you can have.

You can use selection criteria to either include additional information or restrict the list displayed, so you can define precisely how you want to explode a BOM.

Hope this is helpful

Thanks
