generally in the planning book you define the layout of the interactive planning screen. you can have multiple planning books assigned to a planning area.
In company you have different departments like marketting, finance etc, each has a specific dataview with set of key figures, the time bucket profiles for both history and forecast. Basically you can have multiple data views in a single planning book.
Hi
A Planning book is based on the information or subgroup of information from planning area
The demand planner doesn't maintain planning area
In the planning book we can select the characteristics and KF's for the demand planners individual tasks
Each planning book contains several views, where you can store KF's for detailed analysis and planning tasks
In each view you can also maintain planning horizon and time bucket profile

Dear Balu,
Planning book & Planning area are basic Infrastructure for Supply chain Planning in APO.
1) In Planning Area, reqd key figures assigned for planning.
2) Planning area is referred in Planning Books.
3) For End User, Planning book will be visible. Now for visibility purpose you can assigned different "Data Views" which will limit users ability to interact with planning book according to his role.
4) One planning book can have multiple data views.
5) Though user will interact with planning book, Data in live cache stored through planning area only.
Hope it helps you.
Regards,
Hardik
