I do not know why the installation got stuck here, but then got bugged up and restarted the installed

After that got stuck in the Import SLD phase40

Basically the import phase consumes loads of memory. Since we had 4 GB RAM, I think it was not sufficient for it to go.

So added 4GB more and it went through.

please check the vmstat 3 555 and check the swaps. You will come to know how much memory the process takes.

Try the following to resolve the issue

1. Is the J2ee engine running on sapdev ?

2. Check with jcmon pf=<J2ee instance profile path>

option 20 - local administration menu

u should seee..

SDM, server 0 and server n with status running

3. if one of them is stopped, try to restart the perticular server component

4. If you have changed the password of J2ee administrator, you need to also change it in SDM and maintain the same password there and restart the j2ee engine and restart the installation

Also refer Note # 701654 (Deployment aborts due to wrong J2EE Engine login information ) to reset the password in SDM

I have already done with the note 701654. But I think after that you need to update in the J2EE engine or restart the J2EE engine. Since I use Solaris 10. Can you please be very specific as what gui tools are present which can be handy to view J2EE engine and SDM and resolve the issue?

I got another note 780670, and the problem seems to be similar. But somewhat reluctant, as I donot know the folder in solaris 10 to check for command sdm, and what should be sdmhome,jstartupdir-- host should be sapdev and port 3901...

Can the installation be bypass without the software unit ?

You can´t. Futher phases are based on the successfully implementation of that phase.

since the ABAP system is started already logon to that system and check if the j2ee_admin user is locked.

I think the problem here is it's trying to connect to a instance with number 01 using a message server running on 3901 when trying to deploy the java applications. Your instance is 00 running message server port 3900.

Did you not perhaps specify this incorrectly during installation ?

I think you will have to tell SDM as in note 780670 the correct port to use for message server to correct your problem.

Hi Prashant,

Your Software Deployment Manager(SDM) uses an internal message server port to connect to the instance, this needs to be correct for it to be able to deploy(install) Java applications and communicate correctly via the message server. I think somewhere during the install you specified incorrect system number for J2ee so it's using the incorrect port 3901 when it should be using 3900.

You should be able to change this as mentioned in the note 780670.

To change it you will need to stop the SDM server. Then the commands will be something along the line of:

sdm jstartup sdmhome=<...> mode=standalone

sdm registerjstartup sdmhome=<...> jstartupdir=<...> mshost=<...> msport=3900

sdm jstartup sdmhome=<...> mode=integrated

Take a look in the SDM/program/doc here you will find the documentation listing the commands above.

It seems that your engine is not running.

Can you check if you see the jlaunch processes? If not, please check dev_server0, dev_bootstrap in the work directory of the instance.

Can you please let me know what all services to check to resolve the issue and which port it should start with.

I tried to open through logon pad, but could not connect. I think SAP is not started.

I am going round and round for the issue and cannot come to the conclusion and not able to resolve it and my installation is stuck..

Please suggest??
