Dear All,

I want to test my backup on a different system.

I have taken backup of SID RT2 and I want to restore in SID IDS.

Both systems is on AIX 5.3, oracle 10g.

All kernel and sap patches are same on both systems.

Is restore on different SID is possible?

And also I don't know the procedure of doing it.

Pls help.

Thanks & Regards,

Pramod Mishra

Hi ,

Do you want to perform system copy.

You can restore the database of one server to another server using BRTOOLS.

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

I know I can do it by system copy. But i want to check only my backup.

I do not understand what you want to say .You can restore this backup on new system or sandbox system or test system .

First stop SAP & database on target system.

If you are using ORACLE.

You can use Brtools at command prompt ,login using ora<SID> & command

brrestore -b<backup logfile name> -m full

And remember before start restore backup take a full bakup of server on which you perform this task.

Regards

karan
