Hi ,
for you the entire note !
Note 84855 - Certified hardware
Summary
Symptom
Which hardware is certified?
Solution
SAP supports the following HW platforms: UNIX, NT, AS/400 and S/390.
However, this note deals only with UNIX and NT HW certification processes.
NT hardware is usually certified by the company AddOn. This company only certifies complete hosts. The company cannot certify specific components due to the diverse combinations that are possible.
If you still want individual components tested, contact the AddOn firm. However, note that the execution of such Test suites does not mean that SAP has given it any certification status.
You can get more information about AddOn NT hardware certification for R/3 or more information about the names of NT hardware manufacturers certifired for R/3 via: http://www.saponwin.com.
The operating system and not the hardware is certified for UNIX hosts. However, you should note the following: At the moment, SAP supports the following UNIX derivatives only on computers from the following producers:
Linux (Suse and Redhat) on Intel HW by Fujitsu-Siemens, Sun, IBM, HP Dell, Unisys, Bull.
Linux for zSeries (SuSE) on IBM eServer zSeries hardware (64-bit architecture),
Linux auf PowerPC (SuSE und Red Hat)
IBM AIX on IBM and Bull Hardware,
HP-UX on HP hardware (HP-UX on Hitachi hardware is only supported
in Japan for SAP products),
Tru64 UNIX on HP hardware,
Sun Solaris on Sun hardware and Fujitsu-Siemens hardware,
FSC ReliantUNIX on FSC Hardware.
For an operating system for which more than one hardware type is
available (example: Both Sun and Fujitsu-Siemens offer servers with
Sun Solaris as operating system), SAP does not differentiate the
hardware. Compatibility of the hardware is guaranteed by the
respective harware partner. This means in particular that SAP
kernel patches that are made available by SAP for a combination of
operating system and database exist in one version only that runs on
all hardware types available for the operating system. A copy of
an SAP system from one hardware type to another, without changing the
operating system platform, is a homogeneous system copy from SAP's point of view.
Certified Linux hardware is maintained in SAP notes by
the partners at LinuxLab, which can be found in SAP Note 171356:
You can find the released operating systems as well as information about the SAP planning for future versions via the Note Search in the SAP Service Marketplace (search terms: released operating systems) or via links in the SAP Service Marketplace Platform and Technology Information Center http://service.sap.com/platforms
If you still need information regarding hardware, contact the corresponding Competence Center. You can find the telephone number in Note 16481.
