I want to learn MDM, i have good knowledge in SAP BI.

Please answer my below questions

1 ) MDM has Coding or do we have only navigation.

2 ) Is programming knowledge is essential for MDM.

3 ) How is the future for MDM.

1. MDM has no coding in it. However, we can use ABAP or Java API's etc, for additonal functionalites. But for MDM, no coding is required.

2. MDM is basically a configuration based tool. There is a lot of modeling which is done according to the requirement.We have 4 GUis' namely Console, Import Manager,Data manager and Syndicator. We can get them installed and access the MDM server via them.

3. MDM is a hot cake in the market right now as companies are thinking of moving into ESOA and for that MDM will be the base of it as you need to have clean Master data to achieve ESOA.

- MDM does not have any Coding involved it is a configuration driven tool

2 ) Is programming knowledge is essential for MDM.

- No but it is good if you have a coding sense it will help in implementing MDM scenario where you may need coding when integrating with differnt systems.

3 ) How is the future for MDM.

- May not be that bright at this point but in the long run it is the key to success.

Hi,

SAP MDM is basically a tool based tech.

But definately when u want to integrate it with other system

like BI,R3,EP etc you may need some programming skills.

However the answers to your questions are

It is basically a navigational click based tool.As a standalone system it

requires no programming skills.

Yes programming skills are required if you want to use JAVA API or ABAP API for integration of MDM with other systems.

Future of MDM is bright.
