Gowtham K.
Hi Gowtham,
<b>SAP Mobile Infrastructure</b>SAP Mobile Infrastructure is the basis of all SAP mobile business solutions: it
supports the administration of mobile terminals, synchronises the data between the backend system and the
mobile terminal, and acts as the run-time environment for the mobile applications. The independence of the SAP Mobile Infrastructure platform is guaranteed in that it has been fully designed in Java.

hi,
hope you got all about MI from those links.
> Will it be used along with XI??
For this, it depends upon the requirement. if i have a third party backend or some data comes from a non-SAP system, it needs to be mapped to a type understood by SAP Web AS 640 (for which you XI guys map data to). This is where you XI pple come into picture. You write a mapping coding so that it is understood by WAS and i can use it in my MI application (it talks to WAS)
XI and MI are for two totally different purpose. they can be used in synergy too depending upon the scenerio.

Ak.

Hi Gupta
You dont need XI for MI to talk to any non SAP systems.
The mobile devices on which the mobile applications are installed, are used by means of the MI client. A SAP NetWeaver Application Server with the usage type MI, controls the data exchange between the back-end systems and the mobile devices and with which the mobile infrastructure can be controlled and monitored. Backend systems include both SAP and non SAP systems. One or more back-end systems are available to the server-side of the mobile application.
You can access database by JDBC access. Several different database tools help you in your work with database instances. To use a database instance in a database application, integrate the database instance in the database application via an interface. The JDBC API allows you to access JDBC-enabled databases directly from Java.
MI supports two UI programming models to date: Java Server Pages (JSP) and Abstract Windowing Toolkit. As programming model for browser applications, the SAP Mobile Infrastructure supports JSP, based on the Tomcat servlet engine.

Hi,
a good link to start is http://service.sap.com/nw-mi
also there are lots of previous posts with good material and links, just look in this forum.
at this point there is no official support between MI and XI, but I know SAP is testing this, so in the near future this will become available.

Bart
