To trigger notification to useru2019s inbox, when Rental Contract is expiring

Hi Guru's

Appreciate if you can go through below requirement and share your views.

My Client has a requirement to trigger notification to the useru2019s integrated inbox, when Rental Contracts are expiring So that the users can take follow up actions such as informing the contract owners for extension of the expiring contract.

For Example when we create a rental contract for a period 01 Jan 2008 to 31 DEC 2008.

User will have to get notification in his or her integrated inbox on 01 DEC 2008 , saying that so and so contract is expiring in 31 DEC 2008 , Please follow up with the contract owners for extension of the expiring contract.

I have checked standard Workflow Scenarios , But end up with no result.

I have gone through Workflow Templates available, but could not find appropriate Workflow Template for this requirement.

Can you please let me know how SCOT T-code is used with respective to this scenario?
