Do we have to shutdown SAP instance before doing SQL database Restore.

Hi,

I have to do a database restore of SQL Database on SAP.

We are running Win 2K OS and SQL 2000 Server Database.

can anyone tell whether do we have to shutdown SAP instance before doing SQL Database Restore.

Hi,

Welcome to SDN.

This is a security forum, please try to ask this query in Admiinistration forum. You'll get a good response there.

However, let me answer your query.

Since database is accessed by the SAP instance always and if you run a restore database has to be shutdown. And once the database is down, dialog work process goes in Standstill. So it is a best practice to shutdown the SAP instance before you shutdown Database instance (even for restore).
