Dear Sabina,
In Sales Point of View we have two BOMs.
1. Header Level BOM - Material Item Category - ERLA
Header material is relevent for Pricing (Item Category - TAQ). Item Material is not relevant for Pricing (Item Category - TAE).
2. Item Level BOM - Material Item Category - LUMF
Header material is not relevent for Pricing (Item Category - TAP). Item Material is relevant for Pricing (Item Category - TAN).
Hope this will clear your question no.1

1. there are different types of BOM available in SAP.
A.Production BOM : PP consultants will do this
B.Material BOM : MM consultants will do this
C.Order BOM : Sd consultants will do this.to tell u briefly we create a configurable material first. then we add sub items to this. if u want pricing for main material use item category group ERLA.if u want pricing for sub items use LUMF as item category.
2. Costing is used whenever u have Cost Center Scenario.CO consultants will do this.Ex: if u want to configure shipments u should use costing scenarios.
reward points if helpful..
Regards..
Yogi
