hi friends,
what are the confugaration settings for 'make to order' and 'make to stock' and where we can do these settings in SD?
regards,
siva
Hi,
Make to Order is the production is done only when the customer orders for it. The stock is posted with reference to the order.
Item category group is 0002 and the possible item categories are TAC and TAK.
Make to Stock is the regular material production and the material posting to unrestricted stock. Here the stock is maintained in inventory.
Reward Points accordingly : -)

Dear siva
Purely this is related to PP and not SD. For information, a brief note on these are as follows:-
If the materials are not assigned to sale orders and the costs needs to be tracked at material level, instead of sale order level, then we go for MTS. Otherwise, MTO.
As for as configuration is concerned,
- first in Material Master, you have to define in MRP3 view what strategy group you are going to adopt
- Based on strategy group, you have to assign the respective Requirement Type in [OPPS]
- Based on this Requirement Type, you have to maintain Requirement Class in [OVZH]
- For this Requirement Class, you have to set the appropriate boxes in [OVZG]
This is only a brief note
thanks
