Hello,
I have reproduced the content of the release notes of ECC 6.0 where it mentions that a new production supervisor role has been created in SAP for 6.0 version. The role talks about "dashboards enablement" in ECC. That puzzled me a bit because much of this is what we are trying to achieve through MII.
Appreciate your thoughts...

SAP Role: production supervisor.
In the production supervisor role, manufacturing intelligence dashboards for the plant manager and production supervisor roles provide configurable entry pages that deliver alerts, key performance indicators (KPIs), manufacturing content, work lists, and production confirmations. They also provide the decision support needed by production personnel to respond to exceptions and unforeseen changes in demand or supply and to deliver superior production performance through greater transparency. Dashboards have also been created for the new maintenance technician and quality inspector roles, to leverage this transparency and promote collaboration on the shop floor. The dashboard for the plant manager has been enhanced.
- Target group
The target group includes people in middle management within shop floor execution and manufacturing, as well as people leading shifts in production u2013 that is, production supervisors.
- Work overview
You can view alerts from production, as well as your work list. You can create your own work list, with production orders, and maintenance and quality management notifications. You can print or confirm orders. The stock quantity overview and day's supply are also displayed.
- Shift comments
You manage comments for a shift as either a text document or a table. You can also view alerts from production, as well as goods receipt quantities.
- Confirmation
You can create new confirmations for production orders, and you can display or cancel existing confirmations.
Hi Srinivas,
There are many customers who use SAP Shopfloor application for Order execution also. They do not require any third party MES or any other Level 3 systems.
So, the new dasboards on SAP ECC are primarily to monitor such Manufacturing execution which works on SAP ECC only.
Best Regards
Deepak

It looks like all the inputs to the dashboards they refer to come from within SAP ECC 6.0.
MII can provide updates to SAP ECC 6.0 from external data sources such as data historians, LIMS, MES, etc.
For example, MII can perform a Goods Receipt in SAP using quantities recorded in a data historian for the previous day. Once MII is done updating SAP, that Goods Receipt will be there for the SAP Manufacturing dashboard to present. Similarly for inspection lot results recording, confirmations, etc.
Hope this helps,
Mike
