Hi Ram,

the most important step in a Retail system is the LISTING process.

Before you can order an article from a vendor and deliver it to a store or DC, you have to list the article.

Go to MM42 for the article on view LISTING. maintain the values and press the button 'execute listing'

based on stores to be listed, the logistic views maintained on a reference site will be copied.

I hope you have defined a reference store in transaction WSS1. If not good luck.

Dear consultant outside, please be aware, if you have perfect MM standard knowledge, good basis, but Retail works on a different way, Please checkout course IRT310.

Before you mess up the system by wrong master data, please ask.

Currently I'm preparing a BPx for best practices or Retail master datat setup.

regards

Hi Ram,

A reference site is not a pure template. It is more an organization maintenance level for master data. Behind is hidden a sophisticated copy and reference handling. But we start with the simple things.

As you can see in transaction WSS1, there are two input fields called u2018Reference Site for DCsu2019 and u2018Reference Site for Storesu2019

In these fields we strictly recommend to enter at least a value in DC field and also in the Store field, if you define your reference level globally for store. There exists a deeper level of reference definition for stores on distribution chain level.

But before you can enter here something, check your business and define a clear vision of your master data future. Then create a reference site with the know transactions, give it nice name and of course a virtual physical address.

Yes, this is correct we are creating a virtual site and not a real one, because in ERP Retail, it is recommended to use these sites as copy references. In the future, the behavior of the reference sites can change. And a very important thing - these sites should not be used as productive sites keeping stocks or have accounting data.

For example, generic articles will be maintained on such reference sites only, because they do not have stock. The article master will be maintained in the logistic views on these reference sites. You can identify this because the site field in the logistic view is empty. That means an empty site field represents the reference store level. (just select a logistic view in article master without an entered site value)

In a following chapter we will see, how a field value on a reference site level will be inherited to depending sites. The assignment will be done automatically. All Sites from type DC will be assigned to the reference DC and all stores to the reference store. Depending on a distribution chain level, you can have additional lower reference store.

In the upper view, you will see also a field called u2018Vendor default datau2019. This is a setting for specialist. In chapter reference handling we will have a deeper look on it. Important to know in a 2 level distribution between vendor to DC and DC to site, the determination of a source of supply will have impact on logistic master data of article master. Depending on this setting, the some logistic parameters will be taken from the vendor level. Changes on vendor data e.g. planned delivery days will change article master data in a mass update run.

e.g generic article will be created virtually on the reference sites, but they cannot have real stock.

Hi Bjorn,

Many thanks for your detailed reply and for taking time to reply to me. Sorry for my belated response due to week end.

I checked in WSS1, there is already a Dc and store in available. If I enter my site I created, i got an error as " Reference site for stores has wrong site category " .

Where we can I view the article created for a site? where article - site - storage location - vendor are linked ?

Do we have to use tcode WSP4 for listing and assortment to get an article listed for a site and create PO ?

Please help.

Hi Ram,

you must create such a site with WB01. Do not use the customizing for plants!

In table T001W there is a field VLFKZ . It must be A or B to ensure it is a retail site.

Link between article and site will be saved in table MARC, but also in table WLK1 (but here the assortments are a different level of listing)

Yes WSP4 is also possible !

based on the given information, I strictly recommend to get in contact with your local Retail Consulting. I have the fear, that you will get in

big trouble! IRT 310 is a good leraning session for beginners in Retail.

Hi Ram,

First of all check how you have created your site is it through WB01 then check how have you created article MM41 .

If both are created using above specified transactions the create assortment using transaction WSOA1.

in your assortment specify your merchandise category the article belong to and the site(Customer) to which this article is to be listed .

Then using WSP4 do the listing by specifing your article and your assortment . Also use same listing procedure specified in your article listing view .

i am sure this will solve your problem if it is not solved yet.

Thanks

Hi Vikas,

Many thanks for your solution. Some times I am getting an error stating that" Article not maintained in Site" and sometimes " Article not listed in site". Is there any difference between these two ? I will your steps and get back.

In IS-Retail, what are the roles for a MM consultant and SD consultant ?

Ram

Hi Ram,

the difference is more or leass easy.

Article not maintained in Site" = missing logictic view = MARC table entry

Article not listed in site". = MARC is existing, but the WLK1 entry for the corresponding assortment for the site is missing

Listing process leads to logistic data, but only in case there are some reference data in the reference store available to be copied.

Hi Chandrasekar,

Thanks for your reply. You mean to say that MM consultant will take care of MM organisation structure configuration and other configurations done normally to support from puchase to pay. Then, what will be his key role which is specific to ISR? Both MM and SD consultants will be called as ISR consultant in that case ?

Please give your views.

Ram
