Hi,
Currently we had used up the db_files in our oracle db. The current value is 254. Is there a maximum value(data file) that we can specified? What is the guidline?
Regards
Lauran
Hi,
Juan gave you the official info on the max number of files.
IMHO, it's not a good idea to have too much hundreds files.
In the past, due to filesystem limits, the max size of our data files was set to 2 GB.
We ended up with more than 400 files.
Now, we resize these files in order to keep the number of files under control.
Of course it creates files fragmentation : nothing is perfect !

Olivier
