Assume u hv to send the following file through xI.

xxx,1,a

yyy,2,b

zzz,3,c

XI can understand only XML.Therefore the file has to be converted to XML format. This is done through content conversion.As the input is a txt file. we do a sender FCC for this.

Assume the source and target structure to be.

MT_EMPLOYEE

EMPLOYEE_DETAILS

->NAME

->EMP_NO

->COMPANY

In ID

do the following steps

In the sender communication channel choose

Adapter type - File

Message Protocol - FCC

File Access Parameters

Specify source directory and file name(with extension .txt or .csv)

Content Conversion Parameters

DocumentName - MT_EMPLOYEE

DocumentNamespace - FileContentConversion

RecordsetStructure - EMPLOYEE_DETAILS,*

RecordesetSequence - Ascending

EMPLOYEE_DETAILS.fieldSeparator - ,

EMPLOYEE_DETAILS.fieldNames - NAME,EMP_NO,COMPANY

EMPLOYEE_DETAILS.endSeparator - 'nl'

Hi,

File content conversion is used for converting flat files into XML messages for further processing by an integration engine. The internal XI processing is based on XML messages hence you need messages to be converted to XML.

SAP By default understands xml data structure. If your file is coming in an xml format you can process it as it is.

In case of file that is coming with a delimiter then you need to have File content conversion for SAP adpater to convert file into an XML structure which will then go to next step of Message Mapping.

Sharanya.

Converting File Content in the Receiver Adapter

If you have selected File Content Conversion under Message Protocol, you can convert a table in XML format to pure text format in this mode. The expected XML structure contains the structure as nodes filled with any number of elements without additional subnodes.

The expected document structure usually looks like this:

represents the maximum number of columns in this case. This parameter also functions together with the specification of a line break for xml.endSeparator.

This value requires NameA.addHeaderLine=0 to be specified.

Hi Amruth,

File Content conversion is used in case of

1) If the Sender is sending the .txt or .csv etc files means we use Content conversion at Sender file adapter inorder to convert that formt into xml. why because XI can understand only xml format.

2) in the other case if it is Idoc--File means, and the File requires .txt or .csv format file to be generate at their end means, we use Content conversion at Receiver File adapter end.

Please have a look at the Mostly used Content conversion parameters

Hi,

XI can only understand message in XML format so any thing other than the XML format should be converted to XML. In case of the file adapter we use the FCC to convert the inbound file to XML. However the FCC has a limitation to text/csv files that too not with a deep nested structure.

Thanks
