Is it possible to maintain internalas well as external number range for a single order type

Hi Sheetal,

You can assign both Internal & External number range to the Sales Document Type in VOV8, while creation of Sales Order if you will External number then system will allow you to save that one, but if you will not mention the number range then bydefault system will assign Internal number range to the order.

I want to know that if I assign external as well as internal number range for a sales document type, will I be able to use both the number ranges for different Sales organisation

Hi,

At the time of sales order creation if you specify the sales order no then system will consider the External number range. If you don't specify the no. then system will consider the internal no range and it will generate the next no.

If you want to control the internal no ranges based on sales org.then you can use the User-exit USEREXIT_NUMBER_RANGE in program MV45AFZZ.

Yes, you can use both internal and external for different sales organizations.

If no external number is provided, an internal number will be assigned.

Hi,

When creating a sales document, a unique number is assigned which

identifies the sales document. The number comes from the number range

which is provided for the document type.

There are two possible types of number assignment:

Internal number assignment

The SAP System automatically assigns a consecutive number from the

defined number range.

External number assignment

You specify a number from the external number range.

You can mention Internal or external in T-code VN01 and assign it in VoV8.You can use same number range for different Sales organization.

You may assign internal / external number ranges for sales documents. You can see the sqme in transaction VOV8 in sales document type details.

It is possible. Check the 'numbering systems' area in VOV8 for a order type. You will see you can maintain both internal and external ranges for one order type.
