i seek your valuable guidance in umderstanding SAP MDM and relavant future prospects with rerference to business application of SAP MDM.

In which scenarios/ Roles which an SAP MDM consultant can play?

Hi Bharatkumar

I have been working in SAP master Data Managment environment for quite sometime now.In my opinion, if you see that MDM is basically a tool for consolidating, Harmonizing and centrally maintaining the Master Data. For this MDM has to techinally integrate with many other components such as SAP R3, SAP BI, SRM, CRM and so many other SAP and non-SAP systems. And XI being a middleware is used in almost all the technical integration scenarios. Whereas BI is a reporting tool and has already been established in the Market. But MDM is picking the Market right now and not much people are in MDM. Hence as a career I would advice you to opt for MDM.

For benefit of all readers i'd like to share something on MDM from my perspective.

Now, something about MDM:

To make it little clear i''d liek to share something about Data and MDM.Data is the food for any system to run and master data is the heart of that system.Master data is that crucial information on which all your business process run.If your master data is not in proper shape the analytics run on them will be incorrect as a result the business decisions taken will be wrong and this will result in a complete failure of your business.

There are many ERP systems existing today but very few provide an effective,systematic and fool proof method to preserve a single version of truth odf your master data.

SAP MDM address this problem and so is here today to bring all your master data under one roof.

So,in general,benefits of keeping Master data in 1 place is

Global data synchronization efforts

Accurate reporting

Consolidation after mergers and acquisitions

Reduced effort to consolidate information

Reduced cleansing/mapping of information

Hi Bharat,

SAP MDM and relavant future prospects with rerference to business application of SAP MDM.

Future prospectus of MDM are good as this is a strong tool developed by SAP to cater to the Master data problem in the IT

landscape.

And master data is the heart of any organisation or industry.

Business application point of view MDM can integrate with many federal systems to address many business problems today.

- MDM-BI - To generate consolidated reports which are based on correct master data.

- MDM-SRM - To provide Catalog data through web which is accessed by accurate and Upto date backend master data provided by MDM.

- CMDM- Provide a central data Hub for all master data so as to provide a single view of teh complete data.

- MDM webservices- Expose MDM functionalitie through Web thus enabling ESOA environment

In which scenarios/ Roles which an SAP MDM consultant can play?

- An SAP-MDM consultant will be responsible of the governance and control of the master data in a company in a structured and ordered manner by utilizing the SAP-MDM features effectively.

- He will be modelling the data in the exisiting landscape

- Deciding on the data storage of teh repository level.

- Importing->consolidating->harmonising the master data.
