Hi Jacks,

Governance in the terms of MDM means Ownership of data.

The major problem most of the companies are facing with respect to master data is that their companies master data is managed by differnt units or departments due to which their is no control over the data which leads to inconsistent data across the organisation.

MDM is designed to handle this crisis through its various features:

- Workflows

- Roles and Users

- Validations

- Assignments

etc

These and many such features are enabled in MDM which make sit possibl eto govern the data or in more appropiate words manage and control the data so that their is only a single version of truth throughout.

Hope It Helped

Kindly Reward Points If Found Useful

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

Data governance is the practice of organizing and implementing policies, procedures and standards for the effective use of an organization's structured/unstructured information assets.

Another definition of Data Governance is "Data Governance is a system of decision rights and accountabilities for information-related processes, executed according to agreed-upon models which describe who can take what actions with what information, and when, under what circumstances, using what methods.

Hi Jacks,

Data governance is the practice of organizing and implementing policies, procedures and standards for the effective use of an organization's structured/unstructured information assets. In this data is governed through many compliances and standards.MDM play a major role in that like in centralizing, harmonizing ,consolidation etc.

MDM helps in the following way:

SAP MDM allows us to create different types of fields and then set multiple properties of each the field to help maintain data standards.

u2022

A User-Role model for data stewardship helps manage data effectively and also impose security and data ownership.

u2022

Maintaining good quality data is one of the most important parts in Data Governance and fortunately SAP MDM provides extensive features like Validations, Assignments and De-duplication strategies for this.

u2022

SAP MDM provides very user friendly GUI to design and build work flows which help to streamline business process and adhere to various compliance policies.

Hope this may help u.
