Background job monitoring using CCMS

Hi All,

At the client site we are using Solution Manager as the Central Monitoring system for our infrastructure using CCMS feature. Alerting Mechanism has been configured centrally in Solution Manager to generate alerts. We have a scenario wherein we want to configure background job monitoring using CCMS and Solution Manager would be generating alerts in case there is any delay or abort of any background job running in the satellite system.

As of now we have 2 alert categories & 2 corresponding autoreaction methods for job delay and job abort for all the background jobs that we want to monitor. But we want to differentiate and generate alerts for various kinds of job i.e FI related, Workflow related, Logistics related etc. We are aware that we can group jobs based on their names like jobs starting with ZSM* or SAP* etc. But since we have existing jobs that needs monitoring, changing job names wouldn't be feasible. Moreover alerts needs to be send to different people within the IT group who would be responsible for its monitoring and possible resolution. Since the standard MTE classes Job_Monitoring_Delay and Job_Monitoring_Status is common throughout for all background jobs we can only assign only one autoreaction method to each one of them, hence having multiple alert categories and autoreaction methods is also not possible.

In this kind of a scenario how should we configure background job monitoring?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Sameer Dash
